Kids just love posters and Discount Movie Posters has a wide selection of posters for the whole family. Of course, being a reading teaher, I know that it is important to participate in activites that will increase your child's
vocabulary as well as language arts skills. Taking your child to various zoos, botanical gardens, nature walks and having a conversation about the surroundings is so important. There are interesting places around you that I bet you don't even know about.
I have lived in the Chicagoland area all my life and did not realize until last month that there is a small nature center right in the heart of the city where there is a butterfly room. Yes, a place were butterflies from around the world fly freely, land on you clothes, mate and eat. Here I am a grandmother, and have never seen a butterfly dine themselves until last month! My daughter and I went there for an art exhibit and discovered a whole world that we didn't know about.
The Young Scientists Club has an inexpensive kit for young children called, Science on a Nature Walk. It really enourages the kids to explore the world around them and have fun at the same time.
Family car trips are always a wonderful and growing experience for young children. My children, who are adults now, still remember the trip we took around Lake Michigan and all the places we stopped. I think our trunk was filled with more games and activities than luggage. We wanted them to be happy so that we could enjoy the vacation. It was an extraordinary 10 days.
Now my son talks about taking his children around the lake and visiting the same places.
And now you can get Free MiniVan games online to download along with loads of ideas.
Here is a page that will give you some fun, yet interesting ideas, summer activities for kids.
